In July, 2020, Friends of Richton Park, the non-profit foundation of the Village of Richton Park, announced it awarded the Bill Flemi
ng scholarship to six Richton Park high school and college students. The awards, ranging from $750 to S1,000 each, will be used for college tuition.
The scholarship was named in tribute to Bill Fleming, a resident of Richton Park who was instrumental in sponsoring and promoting the President's Golf Outing, the original source of funding for the scholarship.
Several events, including the President's Candlelight Bowl as well as donations from residents, currently fund the scholarship.
The Bill Fleming Scholarship and Committee awards college scholarships to eligible residents of Richton Park who are 2020 high school graduates, students currently enrolled in a college or university, and adults who are continuing their education.
Each student was asked to write an essay, which was judged by the Friends of Richton Park Foundation scholarship committee. The students were recognized at the Monday, July 13, 2020 Village of Richton Park Board Meeting.
Friends of Richton Park and the Village of Richton Park supports the advancement of higher education for the residents of Richton Park by providing financial assistance for qualifying and deserving residents wishing to
continue their education.
Friends of Richton Park was founded in 2018. The 501(c)3 non-profit organizat
